3/25 no school 3/24 Finish game and write names of who is in each group and what place they came in. 3/23 Start game, I will send a copy to Bev McFadden the Department Chair 3/22 Organize the class into three groups Executive (Presidential), Legislative (Congress), and Judicial (Supreme Court). Go down name list Assign first student into group one, second student group two, etc - don't let them choose. Groups should break up Constitution equally for responsibility. If Number is not perfect, have one person do the scoring for you. That person and the winning branch of government will get a 100 test grade. Second place gets a 100% quiz grade and third place gets a 100% homework grade. 3/21 Go through the Constitution on how it is organized. What are each of the Articles? Article One section eight lists the powers of Congress, Find expost facto laws and Bill of Attainder (Article One section 9 clause 3 for both). Review the Amendments, what they are and some the more important ones. Game starts tomorrow. 3/17 Quiz on chapter three 3/16 late start (CAPT)- answer WHAT ARE THE FOUR WAYS TO AMEND THE cONSTITUTION? Look in text for Constitution find Amendments wrte anexplanation of what the 5 most important amendments are. Create another two you feel should be listed and why. 3/15 Notes in class on chapter/Topic 3 Lesson one, plus what each of the seven articles in the Constitution are about. 3/14 Test on History of creating the Constitution 3/11 Chapter test. Updated--- Test on English documents, Articles of Confederation, The making of the Constitution and the Ratification fight (Federalists verses the Anti-Federalists.). Testing will include notes, and will be curved. 3/10 Study for Test tomorrow or complete any work not submitted yet. 3/9 Students are to choose , on page 72, one of either question 11,12,13,or 14. Submit at end of class. 3/8 If the class as a whole needs more time to complete yesterdays assignment. Either way it has to be turned in by the end of class today. 3/7 The Constitution- Have students get the Text books(Blue Magruders) out. Please have them answer the following Print it if need be. 1. Define these words From (page 4 & 5) Government Public Policies Legislative Power Executive Power Judicial Power 2. What is a constitution? 3. What year do the "Framers" meet to create the Constitution? (page 60) 4. The Virginia plan was Madison's original plan for the new American Government. How did it lay out the three branches (from question 1) of government? (Page 62 and 63) 5. The Counter argument was the New Jersey Plan. How did it lay out the executive, legislative, and judicial roles? (page 63-64) 6. Explain the three big compromises. (Page 64 and 65) 7. What is ratification? and what year was the Constitution ratified? 8. Who were the Federalists and the Anti Federalists? What did each side believe in? (page 68) Submit at end of class or at the beginning of class tomorrow if you need more time. 3/4 CHANGE- Students will create their own quizzes. They will Write 10 multiple choice questions with 4 answers per question. Written and submitted by the end of class. 3/3 Chapter 2 section 3 The Articles of Confederation. Students will Finish their notes from section one skip section two and continue to take notes on Sectiotn Three. 3/2 SAT No Civics Classes today 3/1 Students will Learn about influential English Documents and intiial colonial governments. Students will take notes on chapter 2 section one of their Text Book. Start at ordered government and i continue to Charter colonies. Page 40 to 45 2/29 Students are to Finish Their Current Events and upload them to Turnitin.com. 2/26 Students are to write their Current event paper and type it- up loading to their Turnitin.com account for this class. This assignment is due by Tuesday March first to be uploaded 2/25 Students are to write a current event about a topic in American Government that they choose (that is current). Today they need to work on finding an article with their phones. Possible resources are on the left on the highlighted link.
